【报告摘要】

Currently, there are two main detector technologies of Ultra-Fast Silicon Detector(UFSD): Silicon Low Gain Avalanche Diode (LGAD) and 3D Detector.  In LGAD, a gain layer is implemented beneath the surface electrode of the thin sensor to achieve an ultra-fast signal. 3D Detector features columnar electrodes etched perpendicularly to the wafer surface, this structure decouples the sensor thickness and the distance charge carriers must travel to the electrodes, enabling the rapid signal collection and enhanced radiation tolerance, etc. Both detector technologies have attracted extensive investigations, a time resolution of below 30 ps have been achieved on both thin LGAD and small pitch 3D Detector.

This report will cover the design and working principle of the LGAD and 3D Detector. The preliminary measurement results of the LGAD fabricated by Teledyne e2v and the 3D-Trench Pixel Detector fabricated by IMECAS will also be presented.

【报告人简介】

Dr. Dengfeng Zhang is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Sheffield. Dr. Zhang obtained his PhD in particle physics and nuclear physics from Shandong University in 2018. Prior that, he studied at Shandong University at Weihai from 2009 to 2013 and obtained his B.S. and B.E. in 2013. After his PhD graduation in 2018, he joined Tsinghua University as a postdoctoral research assistant.
