【报告摘要】
The concept of the semiconductor detector was proposed to be used in the particle detection in 1950s, and in the past decades, it has been developing rapidly, various semiconductor detector technologies have been developed and applied on the High Energy Physics Detectors. Since its first application as the tracker on HEP detector in 1970s, it has been applied on almost every HEP detector and playing a vital role in the measurements of the life time of long-lived particles and the discovery of new particles, etc. Nowadays, the semiconductor detector has become the baseline vertex/tracker on the HEP detector due to its fast response, high energy resolution, high spatial resolution, etc.
In this report, I will give a brief introduction to the semiconductor detector, including its history, working principle, design and fabrication, etc. Various semiconductor detector types and their applications on the HEP detector will also be presented, especially its application on the ATLAS Detector. In addition, I will also present some of its application in other fields, like medical imaging, spectroscopic imaging, and so on.
【报告人简介】
Dr. Dengfeng Zhang is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Sheffield. Dr. Zhang obtained his PhD in particle physics and nuclear physics from Shandong University in 2018. Prior that, he studied at Shandong University at Weihai from 2009 to 2013 and obtained the B.S. and B.E. in 2013. After his PhD graduation in 2018, he joined Tsinghua University as a postdoctoral research assistant, in 2021 he moved to the University of Sheffield.
